ABOUT THE SUSPENSE ZONE

Andrea Schultz ANDREA SCHULTZ

Andrea is an avid reader whose brain (not to mention available time) often can't keep up with her book interests - there are quite often piles that need to be read! Most are in the Christian genre, with an interest in all different types - suspense, non-fiction, historical fiction, romantic fiction, theological, humorous, and on it goes.

She lives in Novi MI with her loving, wonderful and supportive husband Fred and her two adorable English Cocker Spaniels, Toby and Shelby. She and Fred caught the marathon bug in 2008, and have completed six marathons and six half marathons (at last count!). She also loves directing the video portion of the weekend services at her church (they'll only give her one weekend a month; she loves doing it so much that she'd like all of them!). She is a life group leader in the Women's Ministry at church, and an occasional- but enthusiastic - member of the choir.

Janet Thompson JANET THOMPSON

Hello, my name is Janet Thompson and I am a wife, momma to 4 (one of which is in heaven), mimi to Evan, and a born again child of the King. I do have a fur-baby named Libby Lu who is my little shadow. My favorite hobbies include crocheting, quilting, sewing, and reading. I have been an avid reader all of my life. There are so many places you can go without ever leaving home! I began reviewing books several months ago at the request of an online author friend. I am having a blast doing this! I'm reading genre's that I never thought I would enjoy, but have surprised myself! My reading is now limited to Christian and inspirational authors. With these authors I know I won't be "surprised" with language or sexually explicit material.

Nancy Mehl NANCY MEHL

Nancy Mehl loves the mystery genre. "I grew up on Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys," she says. Although she started writing at a young age, she didn't get serious about it until she was in her forties. "For many years, I'd toyed with the idea of writing a novel," Nancy says. "Then when I watched Murder, She Wrote, I said, 'That's what I want to do!'"

She has published seven novels and one compilation book, COZY IN KANSAS, which chronicles the adventures of Ivy Towers in three different cozy mysteries. Her newest series, the CURL UP AND DYE MYSTERIES, introduces Hilde Higgins, a young woman with an unusual job. "I actually came up with this idea one day while I was brainstorming with my agent. We were talking about all of the odd "hooks" used by mystery writers. My agent mentioned hairdressers and I brought up funeral homes. As a joke, I told her I should create a hairdresser who works in funeral homes. We laughed about it, but the idea wouldn't go away. After a little research, CURL UP AND DYE was born. It's a hoot to write!" CURL UP AND DYE will come out in 2009.

Nancy lives in Wichita, Kansas with her husband Norman. She has a grown son, Danny, who is a talented graphic designer. She runs a HUD program for the city of Wichita and works with a wonderful volunteer organization, Wichita Homebound Outreach. She has a Web site: www.nancymehl.com and a blog www.nancymehl.blogspot.com. She loves to hear from readers. You can e-mail her at nancymehlbooks@hotmail.com.

Cara Putman CARA PUTMAN

Since the time she could read Nancy Drew, Cara has wanted to write mysteries. For years she asked God if this dream was from Him. Her life was full. She graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!), moved to the Washington, DC area, married the man of her dreams, worked in the non-profit world, went to George Mason Law School at night while working, and then started having children. While her life was far from empty, the dream wouldn't die. Then she followed her husband to Indiana. Talk about starting over!

In 2005 she attended a book signing at her local Christian bookstore. The rest, as they say, was history. There she met Colleen Coble. With prompting from her husband, Cara shared her dream with Colleen. Since those infamous words, Cara's been writing books.

Heartsong Presents is publishing a three book series of World War Two romances: Canteen Dreams (October 2007), Sandhill Dreams (May 2008), and Captive Dreams (September 2008). Love Inspired Suspense published her first romantic suspense in May 2008. Now she's working on the Complete Idiot's Guide to Business Law (don't ask!) and the first book in an Ohio World War Two series.

Cara is also an attorney, lecturer at a Big Ten university, women's ministry leader, and all around crazy woman. Crazy about God, her husband and her kids that is.

Deena Peterson DEENA PETERSON

I've only been blogging about books for a little over 18 months. My mom was my book buddy, and when she died I had no one to really talk books with. When my husband started a blog for our church, I thought "I can do that." So "A Peek At My Bookshelf" was born.

In the midst of my myriad piles of reading material, I'm a pastor's wife, a full time mom to two teens at home, a home schooler, and a women's ministry leader. We have a total of six children all together; our second oldest daughter just got married this month!

My reading material covers all genres of Christian fiction and non-fiction, with a sprinkling of general market books in the mix. Because of my unusual success at blogging about books, both of my teens have created their own book review blogs--they just rarely post due to homework and chores:-)

Lots of people ask me why I review books. I tell them three reasons: 1) I love Jesus and want to honor Him with my life, 2) I love books and authors immensely, and 3) I love readers and sharing with others. I'm always on the lookout for a debut author, a little known title, a book others won't seem to touch, and that title that's a little left of center.

And I'm NEVER without something to read!
