Fog Over Finny's Nose
By Dana Mentink / Heartsong Presents Mysteries
Reviewed by Susan SleemanFog Over Finny's Nose is a delightful read, filled with quirky townspeople with unusual occupations, and a wonderful mystery.
In book two of the Finny's Nose Mysteries, Fog Over Finny's Nose, we find worm farmer Ruth Budge preparing for the Finny Fog festival, doing her civic duty, albeit reluctantly, by playing a fog bank as a character mascot for the festival. This festival is attracting all kinds of people including one man who plummets to his death from an exploding hot air balloon. And the balloon explosion was no accident.
No, someone shot down the balloon, but who? Was the killer one of the locals or one of the many visitors who have come to town for the fog festival? And does the toe that is found on the golf course have anything to do with the murder? Or how about the diary Dimple finds in her attic? Does the diary hold clues to the killer? You're going to have to read Fog Over Finny's Nose to find the answers as I won't give away the mystery, but that will be no hardship, I assure you.
Fog Over Finny's Nose is a delightful read, filled with quirky townspeople with unusual occupations, and a wonderful mystery. Ruth Budge is a unique offbeat character and Author Dana Mentink's voice shines through Ruth. The title may seem a bit odd at first glance, but once you understand Finny's Nose refers to a big hill in the seaside town of Finny, California, the titles for the series make complete sense. This a book you won't want to put down. Thankfully there is another book in the series, Treasure Under Finny's Nose to be released this December.
