This is such a unique historical novel that it really sets itself apart from all others.

Set in 227 BC, Shadow of Colossus by T.L. Higley, takes place near one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The descriptions of the statue and the city surrounding it make you feel like you've been there. It's awe-inspiring to think of what it must have been like to live during this period of time and Higley does a great job bringing it to life.

Living at the feet of the enormous statue of Colossus, Tessa of Delos is simply trying to survive. Tessa "works" as a courtesan to a powerful politician, Glaucus. While she detests the life she's forced to lead, she's earned the respect of her owner and uses it to influence the politics of the day.

When her employer is killed accidentally, Tessa's life is turned upside-down. In order to avoid the next patron on her owner's list, she must keep everyone thinking that Glaucus is alive - at least long enough to plan her escape. When a new employee shows up the same day as her employers death and discovers what she's planning, she must decide whether she can trust him to help and risk losing the chance of escape.

This is such a unique historical novel that it really sets itself apart from all others. Higley's portrait of day-to-day life in the ancient drew me in and her strong heroine kept me reading. I'm already looking forward to the next installment in this new series.

Amy Wallace From her earliest childhood, there was nothing Tracy loved better than stepping into another world between the pages of a book. From dragons and knights, to the wonders of Narnia, that passion has never abated, and to Tracy, opening any novel is like stepping again through the wardrobe, into the thrilling unknown. With every book she writes, she wants to open a door like that, and invite readers to be transported with her into a place that captivates.

Tracy started her first novel at the age of eight and has been hooked on writing ever since. After attending Philadelphia Biblical University, she earned a B.A. in English Literature at Rowan University. She then spent ten years writing drama presentations for church ministry. Over 10,000 people have attended drama productions she has written.

A lifelong interest in history and mythology has led Tracy to extensive research into ancient Greece and other myth systems, and shaped her desire to shine the light of the gospel into the cultures of the past.

More than two thousand years ago, the Colossus of Rhodes towered above an ancient Greek harbor – a wonder to all who sailed the Aegean. In the shadow of this Colossus, people lived and loved and struggled for purpose. It was a city glittering with wealth and obsessed with power, but God was still at work in the hearts of people, calling them to understand that a Redeemer was coming.

Tracy is thrilled to begin the Seven Wonders Series with Shadow of Colossus, and it's her hope that in escaping to Rhodes with her, readers will feel they've walked along the harbor beneath the mighty statue themselves, felt the white sand and blue sea under their feet, and met with the Redeeming God who is sovereign over the entire drama of human history.
