Jason doesn't want the money - or the responsibility that goes with it. As Jake enters the corrupt world that his father lived in, he finds that he may be more like his father than he would care to admit. Can Jason handle the pressure of being a billionaire? Does he have what it takes to live in this world - or will it cost him everything? Paul Robertson gives readers a glimpse into the lives of the rich and powerful. He skillfully crafts a story that is both suspenseful and believable. When he's not writing, Robertson is a computer programmer and part-time teacher. The Heir, his first novel, is a powerful start to what will hopefully become a long-term career. I enjoyed The Heir immensely. The one thing that I felt could have been stronger is the faith aspect. I felt that it could have been a little more deeply developed during the story and better defined in the end. I'm afraid it might leave non-believers with more questions than answers. But, then again, maybe that was the point. : The Heir is well written and the characters are well developed. The readers will feel like they're in the midst of the chaos that the characters are dealing with. In the end, though, hope shines through and the reader will have plenty of eternal questions to think on. |
