An authentic medical mystery that will keep you turning the pages.
Dr. Cathy Sewell returns to her hometown after issues in her current life brings doubt. She leaves behind her past for a fresh start and a new practice. But it seems like everywhere she turns, she runs into obstacles. Some nuisances, but some very life threatening. Yes, someone is out to get Cathy starting with car crashes and escalating from there. And that someone definitely wants her to leave Dainger at all costs. Not only that but her professional abilities are called into question when one of her prescriptions nearly kills a patient and the patient’s wife files a malpractice suit. Fortunately, Cathy’s ex-boyfriend and attorney Will Kennedy is more than happy to help figure out who is after her, to represent her in her legal battles, and he’s also happy to resume their relationship where they’d left off so many years ago. Code Blue is the first fiction title from Dr. Richard Mabry and as you might expect coming from a doctor it is a medical story. The book definitely falls under the suspense umbrella, but it is not a race to the finish all action type of book. There is a nice balance between suspense, the character’s internal struggles and the everyday world of a practicing physician. And as a bonus, there is a sweet romance in the story as well. Knowing the author is a doctor, I especially enjoyed the authentic details he shared about the medical world, and have gained a new appreciation for my family doctor after reading the book. The character of Cathy was flawed and multi-dimensional and she was a doctor I would love to find in the real world. I suspect Dr. Mabry was an exceptional doctor himself. So fill your prescription for a compelling read and pick up Code Blue. Sorry, your insurance card is not accepted. |
