Review – Death on a Deadline

When Jenna Stafford’s nephew Zac is suspected of murdering the town’s newspaper editor, Jenna vows to do whatever she can to clear his name. Including scheming with her sister Carly to find the real culprit, taking her findings to the police chief, and suspecting nearly everyone she comes in contact with.

Meanwhile, Jenna’s snarky wit makes her a perfect candidate to be the new advice-giver for the “Dear Pru” column. And that gives her an in to snoop around the newspaper office for more clues.

When Zac is questioned by the police, Jenna’s old boyfriend Alex Campbell, now a lawyer, comes to the rescue. And Jenna can’t help but notice that time has been kind to Alex. Very kind. But is there a chance for the romance that faded years ago?

And who really killed Hank?

There are a lot of things to love about this book: quirky, fun dialogue that will make you laugh out loud in places; plenty of suspects to keep you guessing; a strong heroine who loves her family, fights to overcome her past and just can’t stay out of trouble.

Great pacing keeps the story on track and the reader turning pages. The authors keep a good balance of dialogue, narrative, and action to engage the reader.

This is a great read for those who enjoy a little mystery and mayhem plus a gentle romance thread. Highly recommended!
