Review – Enemies Among Us

Veteran undercover FBI agent Hamer brings a realism to his first novel that leaves the reader wondering?is it really fiction?
Agent Matt Hogan isn’t exactly winning points with the higher-ups in the FBI when he totals three vehicles in a drug chase. He decides it would be wise to take a new assignment, finding terrorists. In order to do this he must masquerade as a volunteer at a charitable agency in the medical field. So begins Matt’s search for Enemies Among Us.
World Angel Clinic is a reputable Christian ministry that provides medical care to those in third-world countries?or is it? Do the members of World Angel truly adhere to their beliefs? Is a terrorist hiding in a seemingly innocent disguise? Will Matt find the infiltrator in time to avert disaster? Will he be able to save the nation from security threats from Islamic jihadists? How long will the Enemies Among Us be able to successfully elude Matt, as the death tolls rise? Hamer has written a story that could have taken place in Anytown, USA. Enemies Among Us has that edge that only a seasoned pro in the field could give. Matt is your average Joe who becomes a hero because of the risks he is willing to take. Enemies Among Us is a celebratory novel of Americans who risk everything for faith, freedom, and family. It is also a beautiful stereotype-breaking novel about hearts seeking forgiveness and healing from past hurts. Heroes come in many forms. Matt and his colleagues protect America from the dangers of terrorists. Matt’s wife, Caitlin, shows some of our greatest heroes are protecting students in the classroom. Then there are unexpected heroes?sometimes the reader must flip page-after-page in order to find these heroes. Though there are Enemies Among Us, it only strengthens the resolve of the heroes in our midst. As one who knows next-to-nothing about the FBI or terrorism, I found this book easy to follow. It was devoid of some of the jargon that can make some suspense books a slow read. Yet it was fast-paced enough to keep me turning page after page well into the night. The action starts on page one and the book doesn’t slow down until you hit the acknowledgements page. |
