Review – Face of Betrayal

Short chapters, crisp writing and authentic detail give this novel a powerhouse hit out of the literary ballpark.
Wow. I mean…wow. A stellar debut from writing team Lis Wiehl and April Henry is due to release in April, and you do NOT want to miss out! Packed with twists and turns, “Face of Betrayal” has you holding your breath until the very last page.
The Triple Threat Club consists of news reporter Cassidy Shaw, FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedge and Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce…three women who are strong, love justice, and are all as different as can be. Allison’s faith in Christ is strong. Her faith is what keeps her from going under as she tries case after case, dealing with horrific crime after crime. Nicole is the doubter in the group, with Cassidy desperately seeking answers in just about anything… …even the bottom of a wine glass. Together the three set out to uncover the truth in a high profile disappearance. Katie Converse, a 17 year old Senate page has vanished and a suspect is in their sights. Can the trio figure out what happened to the young woman in time to save her life? Or is Katie already the victim of a vicious crime? You will follow the case along with Cassidy, Allison and Nicole, turning page by page. Along with the mystery of Katie’s disappearance, each of the trio battles her own issues: abuse, stalking and single parenting. I know, that last one doesn’t seem to fit, but seen through the eyes of the woman in the story…you may see your single parent friends through NEW eyes. Short chapters, crisp writing and authentic detail give this novel a powerhouse hit out of the literary ballpark. Be warned: if you aren’t fond of shows like CSI and Criminal Minds, this might be too much for you. But I found it fascinating and did NOT see most of it coming. I’m hoping this becomes a series…but only time will tell. In the meantime, I’m giving “Face of Betrayal” five out of five bookmarks, with a red leash as a charm. My only wish is that the faith element be stronger in future novels. Based on the ending of this one, I may just get my wish:-) Watch for “Face of Betrayal” to release April 2009 from Thomas Nelson. Happy Reading! |

In the midst of my myriad piles of reading material, I’m a pastor’s wife, a full time mom to two teens at home, a home schooler, and a women’s ministry leader. We have a total of six children all together; our second oldest daughter just got married this month! My reading material covers all genres of Christian fiction and non-fiction, with a sprinkling of general market books in the mix. Because of my unusual success at blogging about books, both of my teens have created their own book review blogs–they just rarely post due to homework and chores:-) Lots of people ask me why I review books. I tell them three reasons: 1) I love Jesus and want to honor Him with my life, 2) I love books and authors immensely, and 3) I love readers and sharing with others. I’m always on the lookout for a debut author, a little known title, a book others won’t seem to touch, and that title that’s a little left of center. And I’m NEVER without something to read!
