Review – Homicide at Blue Heron Lake

When Emily Grant returns to her high school hometown of Baxter, Maine, the last person she expects to see is Nate Holman. She’s never gotten over the kiss she and Nate shared just before she left home and the stepfather who ran Nate off.

Nate never thought he’d see Emily again. He quickly finds out that after she went off to college, she achieved her dream of being an investigative reporter. Well, at least one of them achieved their dream.

His father’s death had changed everything. Instead of becoming a law enforcement officer, Nate came back to run his family’s store with his mother. And he’s never looked back. Until now.

Then Emily and Nate discover a body and find themselves entrenched in a mystery that rapidly becomes dangerous.

The Davis gals have created a novel that will pull on your heartstrings as much as it keeps you in suspense.

Strong characterization, vivid setting, attention to detail (i.e. clues!). All things to love about this book. Of course my favorite was the romance thread, which was just right.

If you like reading stories that feature local flavor, you’ll adore Homicide at Blue Heron Lake. I’ve never been to Maine but I really want to visit after reading this story!  Highly recommended.
