Review – Moving Target

Sailor Conyers’ life has been a struggle, but she has worked hard and achieved success as a partner in Sip This a thriving coffee house. All of that falls apart when her business partner is murdered and it looks like Sailor may be the next target. But not if Officer Gabe Sloan, recently back home from the Army, has anything to do with it.

Gabe’s protective instincts arise from a past relationship with Sailor that goes all the way back to their childhood and blossomed into a high school romance. Turns out Gabe’s instincts are right on target when Sailor’s life is threatened. Gabe needs to kick his protective detail into high gear if he is to keep Sailor alive. Together, they also must find the killer before he strikes again.

Moving Target is Author Stephanie Newton’s second book where we revisit the stunning setting of Sea Breeze, Florida and reconnect with some of our friends from her first book Perfect Target. If you follow the reviews on The Suspense Zone, you will remember I loved, loved, loved Perfect Target. And not because I am a fellow Floridian.

No, I found Perfect Target to have a gripping suspense story, a realistic romance, a relevant faith message, and very real characters that tug at your heart. So I could hardly wait for the release of Moving Target and I have to say when I received Moving Target I jumped right in and didn’t quit reading until I finished the book, cementing Stephanie Newton on my must read author list.

Many wonderful books are published each day, but not all of them are written with a fresh voice and perspective. This is what Stephanie Newton brings to the table. A fresh new twist to romantic suspense. So pick up copies of both of her books and stay tuned for her next release, Smoke Screen slated for release in January of 2010.
