Review – On a Killer’s Trail

When a sweet elderly woman is murdered on Christmas Day, Kate Richards jumps at the chance to escort her brother-in-law, Connor, to the crime scene. Connor is the Chief of the police, and he’s sure to give her exclusives that will help her break into her new job as a reporter for the city newspaper. She doesn’t expect to find her ex-boyfriend, Neil Alexander, at the crime scene as well.

Neil is a detective on the police force, and good friends with Connor. He felt bad about being a ladies man when he dated Kate, and when they have a chance to talk, he is quick to apologize. But that doesn’t mean he wants to let the rookie reporter know everything about the crime. Still, there is little to share. There is no visible way the murderer entered, no murder weapon, no nothing. Just a body.

Then another murder occurs. Same M.0. Same ballistics. There has to be a connection. But where will investigating it lead?

ON A KILLER’S TRAIL is Ms. Davis’s most recent suspense, and it is a winner. I enjoyed getting to know Kate, and Neil. As usual, Ms. Davis’ characters are all very well developed and could be real. The faith message is excellently done as well.

Set in Maine, readers will enjoy this snowy Christmas murder mystery. I had trouble figuring out who the killer was, and I usually figure these things out easily. I highly recommend reading ON A KILLER’S TRAIL. It was a great read for a cold February, and the romance was perfect for Valentine’s Day.
