Review – Stranded

The Ivy Malone Mystery series is a work of genius, and Stranded ends on the highest note yet. Take a virtually invisible little old lady with a mutant curiosity gene and an unsolved murder, mix them together and you get a hilarious ride full of bumps, giggles, danger and friendship.

Who says that LOL’s (little old ladies) don’t experience danger and excitement? Not Ivy Malone. Amateur sleuth Ivy gets herself into another fine mess while traveling the country in her camper. When Ivy’s engine dies, she finds work and a place to stay in the nearest town-Hello, Colorado. The sleepy burg has its own problems, as Ivy soon discovers, the most interesting being a recent murder.

With nothing better to do while her vehicle is in the shop, Ivy snoops around for her own clues to the murderer’s identity. But will she find the perpetrator before she ends up in trouble herself?

Lorena McCourtney has written the perfect whodunit. Every time I read a mystery, I try to figure it out before the heroine does, but this one stumped me almost until the end. The clues and plot twists so effortlessly created an interesting conundrum, I gladly succumbed to the story’s grasp. Ivy is a character in which I believe, who I root for, and with whom I can grow in my faith without taking myself too seriously. It doesn’t get much better than that.
