Review – The Taking of Carly Bradford
Reviewed by Susan Sleeman
This is the first book by Ramona Richards I have read, and I enjoyed it so much that I will certainly look for other books by this author.
Carly Bradford is missing. Has been missing for three long months and police chief Tyler Madison feels a failure over his inability to locate her. The trail has gone so cold, Tyler fears Carly is no longer alive. Even when Dee Kelley finds a pair of white sandals near the river, sandals identical to the ones Carly wore when she disappeared, Tyler refuses to get excited over the possibility that these are Carly’s sandals and that she might still be alive.
But he can’t ignore the truth when a blue sundress identical to the one Carly wore on that fateful day turns up. When the Bradford’s positively identify the clothing as Carly’s, a new fear enters Tyler’s life. Fear that Carly is alive and the sudden appearance of these clues means the kidnapper is planning to move Carly out of the area unless he finds her first. With the time clock ticking, Tyler sets out to locate Carly. Dee, having lost her own son in an auto accident, feels compelled to help find and return Carly to her parents. Even more so when Dee’s life is threatened for interfering. In The Taking of Carly Bradford, author Ramona Richards, masterfully combines a sweet romance with exciting suspense. She tackles tough areas with the loss of a child and another child kidnapped, but uses the topics to show us how those who have suffered loss can help others heal. She weaves a strong spiritual message in the book and reminds us that faith like that of a small child can restore a relationship with God. |
