David Munson served as an NIS (now NCIS) Special Agent, just like Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the television show NCIS. The Drug Enforcement Administration recruited David away from NIS, and he then worked undercover, targeting narcotic cartels where he posed as a major drug smuggler. David was compelled to create scenarios to convince international drug dealers he was actually a more successful criminal than they, when of course he wasn’t. His very life depended on the flawlessness of his script and his ability to be a convincing actor. God protected him while being held hostage by Cuban soldiers, through slugfests and shoot-outs, and provided him successful cases in the courtroom. He was on loan as investigator for the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, where his investigations included U.S. efforts to co-opt Russian spies. These myriad experiences taught David the storytelling craft for the family friendly novels he writes with his wife, Diane.
Diane Munson visited Washington D.C. as a teen and dreamed of living there one day. Her dream came true after law school and several years as a private practice attorney. She served in the U.S Department of Justice with Attorney General Meese as liaison attorney, Deputy Administrator for the Office of Juvenile Justice, and then as a federal prosecutor. After many years practicing law, Diane pivoted from writing legal briefs and arguing before juries to penning inspiring suspense. The drama she witnessed in her law practice, including tensions of custody and adoption cases, is woven with David’s dangerous experiences into high velocity suspense novels, which end with heart-warming surprises.
The first question everyone asks this spousal duo is if the NCIS program is realistic, with the second being how can two people write together. Diane softens David’s rough enthusiasm and David pushes Diane beyond her comfort zone. Their inspirational novels highlight the lives of American heroes who protect our nation and are peppered with touches of romance. While several Federal agents reappear in most of the novels, each book stands alone. Diane and David are hard at work on their twelfth thriller.
