Lost Truth

June Foster Interview

May 13, 2019 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. I’m a retired elementary teacher. I have two daughters, and 10 grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy traveling in our RV and seeing the US. I’m blessed with the opportunity to visit many locations, some where my next story will be set. I love to read my Bible and am active in my local church.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I’m sure there aren’t too many authors like me. I realized I wanted to write after I retired from teaching – just about 10 years ago.

Q: Could you give us the highlights of your professional writing career including how you got your first writing break?
A. I always laugh and say that God put me on the fast track to getting published because He knew my years on this earth weren’t as many as a younger author. I got my first contract for a three-book series with Desert Breeze Publishing after two years of when I began work on my first book. I’m now working with Winged Publications and to date have 19 contemporary romances out plus one devotional.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Dreams Deferred?
A: Father Matthew Hall is a young Catholic priest who wants to serve the Lord. His passion is ministering to at-risk teens through an afterschool program in which he’d teach them the joy of music. Unfortunately the pastor doesn’t believe he’s ready for such a project.
Mary Louise Graham is a young school teacher who carried a heavy load of guilt. After Father Matt leads her to the One who can forgive her, she finds the godly priest means more to her than he should.
The story is inspired by the true story of my great grandfather and great grandmother.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Dreams Deferred?
A: The story is inspired by the true story of my great grandfather and great grandmother. He was a Catholic priest in a parish in Louisiana and fell in love with a young woman. If they hadn’t gotten together, I wouldn’t be here today!

Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story?
A: I would like readers to remember the truths that all Christians have in common, salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. We need not allow differences to divide us.

Q: What inspires you to write?
A. I love to write romance, and I enjoy devising the most impossible odds two people would have in getting together then sit back and see where God takes it. My goal is to honor Him because only He has the answers for our lives.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I am getting ready to start a romance for my editor’s series, “For the Love of a Family.” In the story a big hulk of a guy who works construction loses his wife in childbirth. Responsibility of a new born challenges him and threatens to disarm his tough exterior. He cries out to the Lord in desperation. I haven’t gotten too much farther than this at the moment.

Q: When you’re not writing what do you like to do?
A. I love to visit national parks and different parts of the US where we haven’t been before, spend time with grandkids, and study my Bible.

Susan, thank you for the opportunity to share Father Matt and Mary Louise’s story. It was difficult to write because it’s based on fact – the lives of my great grandparents, however, I don’t know much about their romance and how they got together. I had to fill in many of the blanks with fiction.
