Jordyn Redwood Interview

September 11, 2017 By The Suspense Zone

Q: How did you get your start writing fiction and what genre do you predominantly write in?
A: I’ve always had a love of writing stories from as young as I can remember. In fact, my first short story was about a rabbit who had to go to the “hoppyital” because I couldn’t spell hospital. Perhaps I was always destined to be a nurse and an author. I love writing suspense because in reading suspense you can live on the edge without putting your life in actual danger.

Q: What does your writing space look like?

A: I’m blessed that my husband likes to do woodworking and created this writing amazing writing cave for me.

Q: What part of a writing career do you find most difficult?

A. Balancing working two jobs and family life. I also find plot synopsis very difficult to write and they are perhaps my least favorite part of the publishing process.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Taken Hostage?

A: What if the one person who could save your loved one’s life goes missing? What would you do to find them? Bounty hunter Colby Waterson is faced with this question when Dr. Regan Lockhart goes missing. She has developed a cure that is his sister’s last hope for life and when she doesn’t show up for his sister’s scheduled surgery, he knows he must do everything he can to find her and bring her back.

Q: What did you enjoy most about writing this book? Least?

A: Regan and Colby are both broken people and I love that they help heal one another. Least? Kissing scenes are very difficult for me to write and not have them come across as cheesy. I’m much more adept at writing the suspense aspect of romantic suspense books.

Q: What is the main theme or spiritual message of this book?

A: That going through life alone is not how God designed our lives to be.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?

A. I just wrapped up my next Love Inspired book called Fugitive Spy that will release in March, 2018. I also just completed my first indie project that will be releasing this October. It’s an amazing box set called Kill Zone: Ten Deadly Thrillers that features ten all new thriller novellas from ten amazing Christian suspense authors. My novella, Malicious Intent, is a prequel to the Bloodline Trilogy. So, if you want to read about the first case that detectives Nathan Long and Brett Sawyer worked together—you’ll have to check it out.

Q: If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?

A. I think it would be Dean Koontz and Sam Worthington. I’ve always admired Dean Koontz. He’s probably the largest reason why I chose to write suspense. Sam Worthington is my new Hollywood crush. I think he’s one of the most emotive actors on the scene today and I’d love to pick his mind about his craft. Plus, he’s easy on the eyes—for sure.

Q: Do you have a favorite hobby?

A. I’m an avid quilter and cross stitcher. The best way for me to relax is watch a suspense movie while doing needlework. Strange, right?

Q: What is the most rewarding thing you have ever done?

A. Wow, this is such a hard choice. I’ve done many rewarding things so it’s hard to pick just one. Overall, being a mother and raising children who believe in Jesus is the most rewarding and the most important thing I do. That’s where my legacy will be.
