James Tyler Brooks is a lawyer, author, and mediocre basketball player at the YMCA.
He received his undergraduate degree in history with a minor in political science before earning his Juris Doctor at the University of North Carolina School of Law.
After a decade of practicing law, unable to remedy his midlife crisis with a brand-new Ferrari, James decided to start the novel he had talked about writing his entire life. His debut, No Small Target, combines his love of spy/action thrillers by authors like David Baldacci, Lee Child, and Nelson DeMille with his lifelong fascination with Hawai’i. And it may or may not include a Ferrari.
James lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. However, to maintain the strictest standards of authenticity, he makes regular trips to Hawai’i to conduct in-person “research.” As a result, he owns an impressive collection of aloha shirts and would be a certified snorkeler, if he weren’t so busy writing.
