Review – Blur

January 15, 2015 By The Suspense Zone

Blur is one of the books I was most anticipating for 2014, and I was so excited about it I started reading it the day it released! As I’ve come to expect from Steven James, the writing style was great and the story gripping. I liked that the chapters were short; it made me feel like the story was moving very quickly. I also appreciated that it was clean language-wise.

The characters were believable and I liked how everyday-things (like eating, checking messages, etc.) were in the story. It definitely added realness to the book. I wasn’t too sure about the ghost/blur aspect at first, but I loved it in the end! I won’t say why, to avoid spoilers, but it was neat.

I also loved the mystery about who the villain was. I had a guess for most of the book (which ended up being wrong), but I enjoyed speculating who it was and being correct with one of my later guesses.

A few times things in the story seemed, in my opinion, repeated a little much, but it didn’t bother me too much.

Overall, Blur was a suspenseful and entertaining read. The ending was great, because it didn’t leave you with a cliffhanger. I recommend Blur to fans of YA suspense novels with some supernatural elements. Great read for teens and adults!
