Review – Kiss

January 8, 2011 By Michael

What would you do if you couldn’t remember? If you felt your memories had been stolen somehow? Memories you had to have to know what you did…or didn’t do?

That’s the premise behind the novel co-authored by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy. Together, they have created a captivating story that will keep you guessing until the final page is turned-guaranteed.

“Kiss” tells the story of Shauna McAllister-a young woman with very little in her life except a distant relationship with her father, a senator with aspirations for the White House and little time or interest in her. Unfortunately, Shauna knows something about her father that will put even more distance between the two of them if it is true.

But before she can confront him, an accident steals her memory and puts her beloved brother Rudy in a brain damaged state. Blame is placed on Shauna…question is, did she do it? Or did someone do it to them?

While Shauna’s been robbed of her memory, she’s also been given a unique gift-the ability to…whoops! Almost gave it away! Let’s just say she’s found a way to hopefully get to the truth…

…if it doesn’t get her killed first.

Erin Healy is a new author to watch. This story moves at breakneck speed, and you honestly don’t know who to trust or who’s telling the truth until the very end. I tried my best to see it coming-and was VERY tempted to jump to the ending…but resisted.

The characters come to life and if you don’t fall in love with Shauna and feel her anguish…if you don’t want to wring some necks…if you don’t love spine-tingling suspense with the essence of God lingering after you’ve read the story…then I’m sorry.

Because that’s what you’ll get from reading “Kiss”. Put it on your wish list NOW, and I’m rating it five out of five bookmarks, with a cell phone as a charm-be careful when you check the text messages!

I’ve only been blogging about books for a little over 18 months. My mom was my book buddy, and when she died I had no one to really talk books with. When my husband started a blog for our church, I thought “I can do that.” So “A Peek At My Bookshelf” was born.
