Though LaTisha is a master at sleuthing, her personal life presents a challenge and there is none greater than her husband Hardy. While lamenting her empty nest, the overweight mother of seven seeks to keep Hardy in line with the sumptuous food she cooks and a few choice comments. And if Hardy isn’t enough to keep LaTisha on her bunioned toes, her children are. One by one, they cancel their trips home for Easter and her patience becomes as stretched as the panty hose she wears. Still, she puts aside her own pain to find Marion’s killer.
Murder on the Ol Bunions is a must read. The mystery is strong with lots of twists and the murderer is well hidden making the book worth reading for the mystery alone, but the characters kick the book up another notch until BAM, you’re on the floor laughing. LaTisha Barnhart is not your ordinary heroine. This sassy, lippy woman puts a new twist on the word busybody, but tempers her interference with genuine caring of her neighbors. The interaction between LaTisha and anyone she encounters is a hoot. Her thoughts are laugh out loud funny, and her dialogue even more so. So, if you love quirky characters, humor by the boatloads, this cozy is one you will not want to miss. I can’t wait for the sequel, Polly Dent Loses Grip coming in March of 2009.
