Review – The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn

The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn is author Liz Johnson’s debut novel with a very creative premise. Kenzie Thorn has the most unusual job of working in a prison as a GED teacher, much to her grandfather’s chagrin. As governor of the state, her grandfather would much rather have Kenzie teach in a more suitable environment for a young, single woman. But Kenzie loves her job and will not hear of leaving it, even when new student Myles Parson arrives in her classroom and sets her on edge with his piercing blue eyes.

And she has a right to be on edge as Myles is really an undercover FBI agent sent into the prison to protect Kenzie. When he learns that someone wants to kill Kenzie, Myles is forced to kidnap Kenzie for her protection, but Kenzie has a hard time believing Myles is an FBI agent. What follows in an interesting trek for the pair as they try to discover who wants her dead.

The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn is a solid debut novel from Liz Johnson with very special chemistry between Kenzie and Myles that at times is humorous and at other times very serious. Both characters are loveable from the first time you meet them. And if that’s not enough of a reason to pick up The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn, the suspense keeps you reading right up until the very surprising ending.
