Review – The Patmos Deception

June 2, 2015 By The Suspense Zone

Davis Bunn in his new book, “The Patmos Deception” published by Bethany House gives us a clever thriller centering around the Greek Island Of Patmos..

From the back cover:  An Ancient Island Holds an Ancient Secret . . .

Nick Hennessy, a young Texas journalist yearning for his big break, finds himself in Europe–his assignment, to investigate the alarming disappearance of invaluable Grecian antiquities. Nick has the credentials–and cover ID–to unearth the truth. And he knows just the researcher to help him…

Carey Mathers, fresh from her studies in forensic archeology, has accepted a job with the prestigious Athens Institute for Antiquities–a dream come true, really, particularly when the Greek isle of Patmos, where the Apostle John received his vision of the Apocalypse, was a particular focus of her research.

Dimitri Rubinos, for whom the Greek islands represent his life, holds on by his fingernails to the family charter boat business. But his country’s economic chaos isn’t the only thing that has turned his world on its head…

Someone is stealing Greek antiquities.  Nick Hennessy, journalist, Carey Mathers, forensic archaeologist and Dimitri Rubinos, tour-boat operator, will eventually join forces to find the culprit and put an end to the smuggling. I have been fortunate enough to have been to Greece. I was even at Patmos. What goes on in this book was not part of the tour.  Get ready for an exciting suspense ride as “The Patmos Deception” is a thriller, which simply means that everyone’s lives are in danger from practically page one.  During the course of this investigation the trio will encounter villains, treachery and life-threatening situations that will keep you flipping the pages as fast as you can read. The lead characters are terrific and we root for them as we live through their various heart-throbbing encounters.  Davis Bunn does  a truly remarkable job in this book while exciting us with this story that everyone will enjoy.
