Lost Cause

Review – The Shock of Night

November 29, 2016 By The Suspense Zone

This is not my normal genre of books, yet I found this one very enjoyable. It is full of mystery, fantasy, murder, some romance and more. If you are not interested in science fiction and fantasy you will probably not enjoy this novel. This is my first novel by Patrick Carr, he has the ability to transform the unknown into a wold all its own. There is blood shed, war, torture, mystery and some unknown throughout this novel.

Willet Dura is a loyal reeve to the king, when things go beyond his control he must face many fears and decide what is truly best for him. When he must defend his city, the king and those from the poor district he is torn. He finds that he has a hard time remembering things from his past. When he starts loosing himself to a ‘gift’ will he ever be able to find the true Willet Dura again. Dura is pushed to the test over and over and is not even sure whom he should trust.

You will find yourself swept away and sometimes lost throughout this novella, it is Part one in the Darkwater Saga, there is a Novella (prequel) called By Divine Right. I have not read this, yet it may bring light things to help in understanding this novel.
