Christa Sinclair Interview

May 7, 2018 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. I lived in 4 different states before I settled in Texas, where I began my teaching career. From an early age my mother inspired me to learn all I could about the world around me. As an adult, I’ve loved learning about new cultures and I’ve been lucky enough to travel to several different countries. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember and I have no intention of ever stopping.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I think I realized it when I was in grade school. I was already writing stories for my friends to perform in a play. As a middle schooler, I wrote fan fiction for my favorite TV shows. Once I finished college, and with the encouragement of my best friend, I decided to start working toward getting published.

Q: Could you give us the highlights of your professional writing career including how you got your first writing break?
A. There’s not much to tell… yet! I’ve tried writing in several different genres for several years. I entered contests, won some, and used the feedback to become a better writer. My editor worked with me on 2 other manuscripts several years ago. Her guidance definitely made me a better writer but then my world changed and writing for Love Inspired took a backseat to other aspects of my life. When I was ready to pursue writing again, I entered a Harlequin contest and landed on my editor’s team. Although I didn’t get very far in the contest, my editor and I began working together again and 3 years later I actually spoke to her on the phone when she called with a contract for Fugitive Pursuit.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Fugitive Pursuit?
A: Convinced her sheriff brother-in-law murdered her sister, Jamie Carter hides her six-year-old niece away until she can prove his crimes. Bounty hunter Zack Owen is bound by the law to turn her in, but Jamie’s story sways him to protect her instead. On the run together, Zack must face the personal price of falling for his fugitive.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Fugitive Pursuit?
A: I actually spent time watching TV shows about the bail bonds business. The idea of writing about a bounty hunter stuck within me even though I was working on something else. When the time came for me to start a new manuscript, I toyed with the idea of writing a bounty hunter story. At the same time, my friend Laura Scott suggested I look into submitting to Love Inspired Suspense. After reading several books of the line, I decided it was time to bring my own brand of writing to a series about Christian bounty hunters.

Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story?
A: I hope readers remember that it’s okay to make mistakes but we also have to be able to forgive ourselves. I think forgiving yourself is one of the most challenging things we have to learn in our lives but it is so very important if we’re going to have a good, positive, and fulfilled life.

Q: What inspires you to write?
A. I’ve always been a writer- diary, fan fiction, suspense, romance. The action of putting words on a page calms my soul. It’s a way for me to share stories about love and strength so that readers can connect to not-so-perfect characters.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I’m putting the finishing touches on book 2 in this Christian bounty hunters series and I’m hoping to submit it within the next couple of months. Of course, ideas for book 3 are already stirring in my brain, too.

Q: When you’re not writing what do you like to do?
A. I’m a teacher during the day so I spend a lot of time preparing lessons and grading papers. When I’m not in school, I LOVE to travel. I also like to read and watch sports. I’m so excited about the (soccer) World Cup next month!
