Kimberly Rose Johnson Interview

October 12, 2020 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. Sure. I’m a wife, mother of two adult sons, a screenwriter, romantic suspense writer, a romance lover and a child of God.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I was in my early thirties when the writing bug bit. I’m a late bloomer. 

Q: Do you find certain themes reoccurring in your books? If so, what are they and why? If not, what is the theme in your current release?
A. Trusting God in the good and bad times is a theme that often shows up in my work. I don’t set out to include a theme in my stories. In fact, I will often read reviews for one of my books to see what readers said is the theme.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Certain Threat?
A: I’d love to. Thanks for asking. Certain Threat is the third book in my Protection Inc. series. This has been such a fun series for me to write! Here’s the book description: Katrina White’s garage explodes and she fears someone is out to get her.
Not long after Katrina overhears two people talking about robbing the bank where she works, her attached garage explodes. With the help of her neighbor, Frank Davis, she escapes the burning home after a storage shelf falls over, trapping her beneath it.
The co-owner of Protection Inc. has one thing on his mind for the week of Christmas—rest and relaxation, but when his favorite neighbor needs his help he calls in his team. Unable to turn their backs on someone Frank clearly has feelings for the co-owners agree to help out Katrina.
When things escalate, Frank is certain of two things—he cares a lot for Katrina and he can’t let anything happen to her.
Join the team of Protection Inc. this Christmas where love is in the air even in the midst of danger.

Q: Where did the idea for this story come from?
A. This story is in the point of view of Frank Davis one of the owners of Protection Inc. He plays a strong role in the two prior stories and I couldn’t wait to write his story. Because I knew him so well, his story really just flowed out of me. I’m not really sure where the idea for it came from.

Q: Who/what has influenced your writing career the most?
A. Probably Miralee Ferrell. We met early on when we were both beginning to write. We became critique partners and friends. Years later, she decided to open her own publishing house and asked about a book she’d critiqued a couple of years prior. She wanted to publish it. I went on to publish twelve books with Mountain Brook Ink.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I’d love to. I am currently writing Dark Threat the fourth book in my Protection Inc. series. I had considered writing the next book in my Law Enforcement series, but I couldn’t get this book idea out of my head.

Q: If you were a dessert, what would it be and why?
A. A trifle because I have a lot of layers and with a few surprises mixed in.

Q: Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know?
A. My absolute favorite food is avocado. Sprinkle a tiny bit of salt on it, and it’s perfection.

Q: Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
A. Oh there are so many! Basically Europe. I could easily spend an entire summer there exploring.
