Mary Ellis Interview

Q: How did you get your start writing fiction and what genre do you predominantly write in?
A. I started writing short stories in my twenties, then abandoned fiction until my forties. When I returned to fiction, it was to full-length mysteries. I’ve also written historical romance and Amish romance, but my favorite genre is mystery/suspense.

A. I’m 64, happily married, and live in a small town in Ohio. I worked as a school speech pathologist for 34 years. Most of those years were in a large urban school district where I mostly worked with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Q: How long have you been writing and what other careers or jobs have you had?
A. I’ve been writing for over ten years, since I completed a book in a month for a NaNoWriMo challenge. That book hasn’t been published yet. 🙂 As far as jobs I’ve held, I’ve written for newspapers, been an administrative assistant at Columbia University, sold Elizabeth Arden products and fragrances in a department store, and I’ve been a homeschooling mom for many years.
