Jenna Brandt Interview

March 1, 2021 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. I’ve been married for 17 years, to a retired police officer turned business owner. We have three daughters that keep us really busy.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I’ve been writing since I was a little girl, but started putting stories together when I was in middle school. Mostly sequels to movies I liked. After that, I ended up getting a job at our local newspaper writing for their teen section when I was in seventh grade. I loved seeing my name in print, and I was hooked.

Q: Could you give us the highlights of your professional writing career including how you got your first writing break?
A. I wrote for various papers, magazines, and blogs over the years, even being featured on Yahoo Parenting, Good Morning America website, and The Mighty website. I shifted into writing romance novels in 2016. I have over three dozen books out now, ranging from historical to contemporary to romantic suspense. Two of my books were voted into Read Freely’s Top Indie Books of 2018. I’ve also earned dozens of best seller and new release ribbons on Amazon.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Rescue Agent for Dana?
A: My most popular two series are The Lawkeepers and Disaster City Search and Rescue. Fans love the books and they have a huge following. I currently just released a new spin-off from those two series. Book 1, Rescue Agent for Dana in the Wild Animal Protection Agency, just came out and it reached #1 in Christian Suspense.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Rescue Agent for Dana?
A: I get a lot of my inspiration for my stories from my husband’s escapades and his fellow officers from the police department.

Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story?
A: That you shouldn’t give up on being happy. That you can find happiness, despite what happened to you in your past.

Q: What inspires you to write?
A. I truly believe I’m called to be a writer. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I am currently working on my next Disaster City Search and Rescue book, The Ex-Wife Rescue.

Q: When you’re not writing what do you like to do?
A. I love cooking, watching movies, and volunteering at my church.
