Review – Deceived

January 21, 2015 By The Suspense Zone

Irene Hannon in her new book “Deceived” Book Three in the Private Justice series published by Revell Books takes us into the lives of Kate Marshall and Connor Sullivan.

From the back cover: A grieving mother. A mysterious child. And a dedicated PI who’s determined to solve the puzzle.

For three years, Kate Marshall has been mourning the loss of her husband and four-year-old son in a boating accident. But when she spots a familiar-looking child on a mall escalator, she’s convinced it’s her son. With police skeptical of her story, she turns to private investigator Connor Sullivan for help. As the former Secret Service agent digs into the case, the boating “accident” begins to look increasingly suspicious. But if Kate’s son is alive, someone is intent on keeping him hidden–and may go to lethal lengths to protect a sinister secret.

As Irene Hannon’s many fans have come to expect, Deceived is filled with complex characters, unexpected twists, and a riveting plotline that accelerates to an explosive finish.

Whenever I see Irene Hannon’s name on a book I know that I am in for a very exciting read.  And with “Deceived” I think she far outshines in the excitement category.  I think this is Ms. Hannon’s best work so far, she just keeps getting better and better.  There was a boating accident and Kate’s husband and son died but no bodies. Now it is three years later and Kate sees who she believes is her son, alive. Now she has been deceived but no one believes her. It is going to take Connor to separate all the lies to finally uncover the truth. I don’t think you will figure out exactly what is going on until Ms. Hannon lets you in on it at the end. And that’s good.  All of the characters are so well written you begin to think that you have known them all your life and you certainly want them to succeed.  With “Deceived” Ms. Hannon has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting until the last hundred pages which is an extremely wild ride.  This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down.  Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense.  I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!
