Review – One Step Away

October 1, 2011 By The Suspense Zone

We first meet strong Christians Bret and Sarah Vreeland who work hard and try to raise their children in a godly way. They have a great church family and a strong family, but underlying it all is a struggle driven my money. They barely eek by on their wages and it weighs heavy on their minds. Especially since Sarah’s former fiancé came from money. She thinks what if he hadn’t died and Bret desires to provide her with the life she could have had.

But all of that is about to change. When Sarah inherits money from a former patient, they are blessed beyond their comprehension. They don’t know what to do with six million dollars. And they don’t know what is behind their blessing. Is Satan trying to destroy the family by blessing them? By making them desire to rely on themselves instead of God? Will he succeed? Will they turn on each other and everything they know? Couple this with an unknown stalker and you have an Eric Wilson novel that keeps you reading until the conclusion.

I have been an Eric Wilson fan for years. One thing you can always count on from Wilson is a creative plot with a strong connection to the Bible. One Step Away is no exception. He uses the story of Job, but instead of taking away from the people, he blesses them. What a great twist on an old story.

Wilson’s characters are always spot on and real. He has done a great job in One Step Ahead in contrasting the Vreeland characters before blessing and post blessing. Through this, he gives the readers a great understanding of what happens when we take our eyes off God and try to live each day on our own.

So if you’re looking for an entertaining, fast paced, unforgettable read with a message you don’t want to miss, pick up a copy of One Step Away. You won’t be disappointed.
