Review – Cooking the Books

May 16, 2012 By The Suspense Zone

I found Cooking the Books to be an entertaining and gripping read. I could see it in my head as a movie, which doesn’t happen with all books I read.

I love Sloane. She is such a fun character it’s hard not to love her. She has a really interesting aunt who loves to cook only not always the best combinations of foods and she’s a little absent minded. Her shop manager is fun also as are many of the regulars at the bookshop.

While Sloane has quirky acquaintances she also has some not so nice characters in her past. There is also someone sending cyber threats and a company wanting to buy the building, which adds to this story.

Without giving anything away, this is an interesting light suspense book that had me laughing at times, and then at times wondering what was going to happen.

Good debut book and I sure hope there will be more in this series. (I could also see it made as a movie or series) Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.
