Review – Deployed

January 4, 2013 By The Suspense Zone

Lance Corporal Bekah Shaw supported her son alone because of a deadbeat ex-husband who didn’t want the responsibility. Joining the Marine Reserves was the best way she could do that, but that means leaving her son with her grandmother to take care of. When Bekah is called back into the action, can she do the job that is expected of her?

The beginning of this book was kind of gross with the fight, and I did feel sorry for Bekah because everyone turned their back on her when she was trying to take up for her friend. And Bekah’s ex-husband shows the total jerk he really is. I did enjoy having Bekah as the main character in a role that is usually given to men in books. The characters created by the author were believable and realistic and were well developed as the story unfolded. And this story is full of enough fast packed action and suspense that you will lose sleep because you can’t put the book down. And I really enjoyed the vivid details of the military setting. Not being familiar with anything military, all of the detail described in this story was very interesting.

I highly recommend this military story for those who enjoy a good suspense thriller. Author Mel Odom will keep you glued to the pages and keep you wondering what is going to happen next.
