Terri Reed Interview

April 2, 2018 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. I love the country and the city in equal parts. I love to travel and meet new people. Though I spend most days holed up in my office with my computer and my dogs.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I can’t pinpoint a day or time. I’ve been a story teller since I was a child. It was how I entertained myself, still is. :

Q: Do you find certain themes reoccurring in your books? If so, what are they and why? If not, what is the theme in your current release?
A. I find the themes of forgiveness and giving up the illusion of control reoccurring in my books. I think these are universal themes but also ones I struggle with myself.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Mission to Protect?
A: This is the first book in the Military K-9 Unit continuity series from Harlequin Love Inspired.
When the Red Rose Killer leaves his calling care for Staff Sergeant Felicity Monroe, she knows exactly what that means-she’s on his revenge list. Her boss, Master Sergeant Westley James and K-9 German shepherd Dakota become her guardians, but they’ll have to act fast to escape the man who wants her dead.

Q: Where did the idea for this story come from?
A. Since this is part of a continuity the editors come up with the story idea and it’s the authors job to make the story work. This is my first time writing a military set story and it was fascinating to learn about the air force and the military working dogs program.

Q: Who/what has influenced your writing career the most?
A. I’ve had so many great influences over the course of my career. I think the major influence was Romance Writers of America. This organization has provided many avenues for me to learn and grow. And to meet some of my favorite authors.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I’m working on the first book in my own series about a Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol in Colorado. This book has a treasure hunt, a hunky deputy and a spunky heroine protecting her younger brother and, of course, horses. I’m enjoying writing this story and learning more about mounted patrols.

Q: Is you were a dessert, what would it be and why?
A. I would be a snickerdoddle. Sweet, a bit spicy and soft.

Q: Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know?
A. I’m allergic to cats. I think they are cute but I can’t be anywhere near them.

Q: Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
A. I’ve always wanted to see Ireland and this summer my husband is taking me there for our thirtieth anniversary.
