Lynette Eason Interview

January 18, 2021 By The Suspense Zone

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. Hi, I’m a wife and a mom for the most part. When I’m not wife-ing and mom-ing, I’m writing. And that’s pretty much my life. LOL! No, seriously, I have tons of interests. I’ve been working on my photography skills for the past year or so and have really developed an interest in fine art photography. I also hang out with my family and friends as much as possible, although that’s been quite limited lately, of course. I’m not that interesting, let’s talk about books! Ha!

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A. I’m not sure there was ever an “aha moment”. I’ve always enjoyed writing and telling stories and one day, I decided to see if I could actually write a book. I did, then I thought I’d see if I could actually sell that book. I didn’t! LOL. Not that one. But it kind of lit a fire under me and I was determined to figure out what it would take to get published. Honestly, I was only interested in proving I could do it. A one and done kind of thing. But once I actually held that published book in my hands, I was hooked. ?

Q: Do you find certain themes reoccurring in your books? If so, what are they and why? If not, what is the theme in your current release?
A. Yes. I think forgiveness shows up most often. In the most recent one I’m writing, I think I’m focusing on “choices”. How we’re responsible for the choices we make

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release ACTIVE DEFENSE?
A: Here’s the back cover copy: As a former field surgeon in Afghanistan, Heather Fontaine is used to life-or-death situations. She just didn’t expect them to follow her home. When she returns from a party to find that someone has broken into her house–and threatened her friends–she assumes it is the stalker who has been following her and creeping her out. She hopes to find safety and peace of mind by leaving the city and hiding out in a small town. But trouble has followed her even there.

Luckily, a stalker isn’t the only one watching Heather. Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. As owner of his own security agency, it’s what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead–and why–before it’s too late.
Q: Where did the idea for this story come from?
A. I didn’t really have anything in mind for the plot when I sold the series, but after some in-depth study on the characters I’d be writing about, and some serious brainstorming with some of my awesome writing buds, I was able to put the story together based on those suggestions.

Q: Who/what has influenced your writing career the most?
A. That’s a tough one. When I was a child, I read Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, the Boxcar children, Alfred Hitchcock and Agatha Christie. As I got older, I discovered Dee Henderson, Terri Blackstock, Colleen Coble, and others. That’s when I knew what I wanted to write. The kind of stories I wanted to tell.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?
A. I’m currently working on the first book in the next series. We don’t have a name for it yet, but I imagine it will be coming soon.

Q: Is you were a dessert, what would it be and why?
A. A big ole pile of M&Ms…lol. Really, anything chocolate. Milk Duds are my latest crave.

Q: Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know?
A. I’m basically deaf. I read lips so you can imagine how difficult this whole mask thing has been when it comes to communicating. I’ve qualified for a cochlear implant and plan to have that done sometime in February most likely. If I don’t chicken out. Ha.

Q: Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
A. Israel. I’d love to see Israel.
