Margaret Daley Interview

November 12, 2012 By The Suspense Zone

I am so excited to bring Margaret Daley back to TheSuspenseZone.com. This woman writes more books than anyone I know and they are always so wonderful. I am sharing the month of November with Margaret in the Love Inspired Suspense releases as Dead Wrong, my next Justice Agency book releases, too. I am a bit jealous as I suggested Christmas Stalking for the title of my Christmas release last year and my editor vetoed it in favor of The Christmas Witness. I’m happy with my title, though and it’s still one of my favorite books.

Margaret DaleyQ: How did you get your start writing fiction and what genre do you predominantly write in?

A. I write romance often with a suspense thread in the story. I got started writing so long ago I can hardly remember how or why except that I’ve always been a storyteller and one day decided to try putting one of those down on paper.

Q: What does your writing space look like?

A: I have pink walls in my office and flamingos everywhere. I have a desk I used for many years, but now I use my laptop on my couch in the office.

Q: In this busy world, how do you find time to connect with God and how does this impact your writing?

A. I set aside some time before I start my day. I also snatch time throughout the day at odd moments. He’s always there to listen.

Q: What part of a writing career do you find most difficult?

A. The promotional aspect of the business. I’d rather write and not have to worry about doing that, but nowadays even more than ever it is important for a writer.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Christmas Stalking?

A: Bodyguard Ellie St. James has one objective: protect her client…without letting her know. Pretending to be Rachel “Winnie” Winfield’s assistant lets Ellie stay close, but there’s an unexpected complication—Colt Winfield. Winnie’s grandson wasn’t in on the plans, and the suspicious marine biologist isn’t easy to fool. When the truth comes out, so do more threats to Winnie’s life. Trapped on a Colorado mountain, Ellie and Colt must trust each other to guard Winnie and find the stalker. Before this Christmas becomes their last.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Christmas Stalking?

A: I needed to come up with a fourth book in Guardians, Inc. Series about female bodyguards. I have visited Alaska and I wanted to place a book there. From those two ideas came my inspiration for the story.

Q: Tell uChristmas Stalkings a little about your main character and how you developed him/her:

A: Ellie is self reliant but needs to learn to depend on the Lord. She’s been doing everything by herself but in Christmas Stalking she has to work with Colt. As a team they save themselves and Colt’s grandmother.

Q: What did you enjoy most about writing this book? Least?

A: Being up on a mountain in Colorado, snowed in with a killer outside wanting you all dead. Love the tension and conflict in the story. There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the story.

Q: What is the main theme or spiritual message of this book?

A: Forgiveness. Everyone in the story needed to forgive someone in the story.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?

A. I’m working on a Love Inspired for a new series about service dogs.

Q: If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?

A. James Rollins, my favorite author, and Hugh Jackman–he’s just so cute.

Q: What is the most rewarding thing you have ever done?

A. Working with children with special needs. They had so much to show me and give me.

Q: Where can readers find you on the internet?
