Terri Reed Interview

October 24, 2016 By The Suspense Zone

treedQ: How long have you been writing and what other careers or jobs have you had?

A: I sold my first novella, a historical inspirational romance titled Perfect Love, in 2001 to Barbour Publishing and then sold my first full-length novel, a contemporary inspirational romance titled Love Comes Home, in 2003 to Love Inspired Romance. Before writing I have had a number of different jobs ranging from model, sales clerk, receptionist to daycare provider.

Q: Do you write in only one genre and if so which one and why? If not, which ones and why?

A: I write inspirational romance and inspirational romantic suspense. I like writing books that incorporate faith into the story.

Q: How does your faith play into your writing?

A:  My characters see life through the lens that I do. One of faith.

Q: How do you choose your settings for your books?

A:  I pick interesting places that I want to learn about or that I have visited.

Q: Do you base your characters on people you know or are they totally made up?

A: Totally made up with dashes of inspiration from real life people to make them more interesting.

idenity-unknown-3Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Identity Unknown?

A: This the fifth and last book in the Northern Border Patrol series. The hero has lost his memory, someone is trying to kill him and he doesn’t know whom to trust but he must risk it all to find his identity, including his heart to the beautiful deputy sheriff who puts her life on the line for him.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for this story?

A: I attended my local county sheriff’s citizen’s academy last year and wanted to write a story with a female deputy so that I could use the information I learned. I also wanted to explore what it would be like to wake up one day with no memory of your name or who you are or why someone was trying to kill you.

Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story?

A: That no matter what circumstances life throws at you, faith in God will see you through.

Q: Tell us what you like about the main characters of this book.

A: My hero is a strong and protective man yet he can be vulnerable and not feel like less of a man. My heroine is also strong and protective but knows when to ask for help.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?

A: I’m working on a Christmas novella for Love Inspired Suspense’s 2017 continuity series. The series runs from April through December. I wrote the first book in the series titled Guardian, as well as a prequel story, titled Agent-in-Training, that will be available online. This series features an elite FBI team of K-9 officers and their handlers who are on the trail of a crime boss while trying to rescue one of their own.

Q: If money were no object what vacation would you like to take and why?

A: I’d like to visit the castles of Europe. There’s something so romantic about that period of history that calls to me.

Q: What is the silliest thing you have ever done?

A: Danced and played a tambourine on stage during a Romance Writers of America conference.

Q: What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

A:  Not sure if this qualifies as hard but the scariest thing I’ve done is zip lined on Catalina Island down a canyon over trees and rocks. I’m not necessarily afraid of heights but dangling in the air and speeding along a thin cable had me breaking out in a cold sweat.

Q: Where can readers find you on the internet?

A:  terrireed.com https://www.facebook.com/terrireedauthorpage/

Q: Anything else you’d like to tell or share with us?

A: I have another book out this month, A Family Under the Christmas Tree http://amzn.to/2d0Wr7D . This is an inspirational romance. Can a matchmaking grandma, a rambunctious Berense Mountain dog and a young boy who bring together a single dad and a world-traveling photographer in time for Christmas?
